A book is an emotional experience. It touches all the senses and leaves an impression. All of us have a favorite book, a book collection or a book memory that we hold dear. Why? The reasons would literally populate an entire bookstore and sometimes do! Occasionally a book comes along that achieves individual distinction and marked eminence.

In other words, the book is special and you know it. The story, illustrations and printing arts are collectively worthy of award. That is the case with The Caldecott award and this interactive Exhibit.

It is entirely up to you to define what is the Heart of the Book.
